Interest in sustainability, recycling, and other environmental matters

EPG is committed to promoting sustainability. We integrate sustainability considerations into our business decisions, implement sustainable solutions in our clients’ projects, seek opportunities to improve sustainability in our communities, and continually strive to improve our sustainability performance. We not only ensure that all our staff are fully aware of and committed to sustainability practices, but also make clients and suppliers aware of and encourage them to adopt sound sustainable practices as well.

EPG implements or promotes sustainable practices throughout our offices in several ways:

Transportation

  • Seek to use alternative transportation to attend meetings, site visits, etc. (e.g., public transportation, car pool, walk, or cycle)
  • Promote the use of alternative transportation by employees to travel to and from work (e.g. Maricopa County Travel Reduction Program)
  • Utilize alternatives to in-person meetings to avoid or minimize travel (e.g., teleconferencing, video conferencing and web cams, or efficient timing of meetings to avoid multiple trips)
  • Promote the use of public transportation by locating our offices in urban areas that are near routes, bus stops, and/or stations

Resource consumption and equipment purchases

  • Minimize our use of paper and other office consumables (e.g., double-sided photocopying and electronic QA/QC review of deliverables)
  • As far as possible, participate in reuse or recycling of office waste (e.g., paper, shipping boxes and envelopes, computer supplies, and redundant equipment)
  • Minimize the use of single-use plastics (e.g. provide washable food utensils, discontinued providing straws and swizzle sticks)
  • Promote superior energy efficiency (e.g. purchase Energy Star compliant electronics, lights kept off in rooms not in use, programmed HVAC thermostats)

Working practices and advice to clients

  • Undertake voluntary work with the local community and/or environmental organizations
  • Ensure that any associates we employ take account of sustainability issues in their advice to clients
  • Share our sustainability practices with clients
  • Research and examine practices within our areas of expertise that advance the concepts of sustainable design and implementation of design treatments that contribute to the sustainability of our environment
